Brushing: Brush your teeth twice a day or after every meal or snack. Continue to brush your teeth until they feel smooth. Brush the way your teeth grow--up and down. And don't forget to brush your tongue, from back to front. If you can't brush your teeth after snacks, at least rinse your mouth with clean water.

Here's a hint: If you just can't brush after every meal, chew gum that has xylitol in it to help keep plaque from forming.

Flossing: Floss the ones you want to keep! Slide the floss between and behind every tooth--and use a fluoride rinse after you brush.

Eat Good Food: Junk food isn't just bad for your body, it's bad for your teeth! So eat food like whole grains, fruit, and vegetables. Drink plenty of water, too--it’s good for your body and keeps your mouth clean and fresh.

Visit Your Dentist: Your dentist and hygienist help to keep your teeth healthy, so visit them twice a year.
